Ozara Ode' was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The first question you may ask after hearing her perform is, "Who were your influences?", she would tell you first and foremost her family. "I come from a musical family; and growing up, there were three things I could count on, good food, rich-soulful music, and lots of laughter. Since releasing her album, "I Dream", she has graced the stage from Atlanta's Center Stage, to D.C.'s Bohemian Cavern, the JazzCafe in London, and the Bizz'Art in Paris.
In 2009, to pay homage to Dr. Nina Simone, Lady Ode' wrote an original play entitled, "Nina Simone: In Her Own Words". The play is a musical/theatrical production. It depicts the life of Nina Simone, through a series of interviews and conversations with a few of her close and personal friends, blended with some of her greatest songs. It will be an adventure as we see the good, the bad, and the truly unyielding presence of this great wo. The first time Lady Ode' heard Dr. Nina Simone's music in 2005, she recalls how an involuntary tear rolled down her face. " I'd never been so moved by anyones voice and lyrics the way Nina's voice and lyrics moved me. With her strong and unique vocal style, I knew I wanted to somehow be apart of preserving her legacy." The play will take place August 19, 2010, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Downtown Atlanta, Ga, in conjunction with "The International Soul Music Summit."
"My desire is to take the world on a journey. Through my words and melodies; I will uplift you when your spirits are low, help you set the mood when you need cuddling, and help you move your feet when you need to dance." Her album can be purchased on the Official Ozara Ode' website at www.Ozaraode.com, iTunes.com, CDBaby.com, or Amazon.com.
"My mother gave me Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, and Earth, Wind, and Fire. I would like to give you Ozara Ode’. “
